Tour Guide Management and Guiding

Aim: To provide participants with the principles of tour management, guiding and customer care skills

Objectives:

Examine the roles and responsibilities of a tour guide
Describe the work required in preparing for tours
List the key points required for safety and housekeeping for tour introductions
Provide top tips for preparing, research and conveying itineraries and commentaries
Describe and discuss the role of customer care when guiding

Learning Outcomes:

Use a microphone effectively
Compile briefing notes
Know how to; and appreciate the need to liaise with service providers to ensure the smooth running of a tour
Have the necessarily tools to ensure punctuality
Compile ‘jogger’ notes and interesting commentaries
To access interesting and up to date information
List the roles and responsibilities of a tour guide
Appreciate the importance of professionalism in all aspects of touring

Details:

The Course will be delivered to one group in Bandon and a Second in Clonakilty in May 2013. There will be a one-day follow-up assessment in June 2013. Final dates to be confirmed.
