The Magic of Walking

The Irish Sports Council in association with a number of agencies are developing a new publication titled – The Magic of Walking. The publication is being developed as part of the Get Ireland Walking Initiative and aims to encourage and inspire people of all ages and abilities to begin walking and discover the magic!

Within the publication the Irish Sports Council would like to include motivational and inspiring stories from people all over the country who really enjoy going for a walk. The Irish Sports Council would like to hear from those who walk regularly in the local park or beach, on a local forest trail or longer walks in the countryside with family or friends.  The Irish Sports Council would like to invite you to submit a “ What Walking Means to Me” story about how you discovered walking, why it’s important to you, how you feel after a good walk, who you walk with and what walking means to you!

If you are interested in sending in your walking story, please complete the form below and send it  to Jean Boydell in the National Trails Office(jboydell@irishsportscouncil.ie)  by the end of August 2012.  Please also include your contact details and a photograph or two of yourself or your walking group.

There are a limited number of Dry Flow T-Shirts available for people who submit a story.

The partner agencies for the Get Ireland Walking Initiative include: The Irish Sports Council, Health Service Executive, Irish Heart Foundation, Age & Opportunity / Go For Life , GAA, Mountaineering Ireland, Arthritis Ireland & ILAM
