Spring Clean 2010

We would like to take this opportunity to express a sincere thank you to all the community groups, voluntary organisations and schools who participating in the event.

Once again this year we were delighted with the response we received. An impressive 66 groups registered with us and our partners Cork County Council collecting in excess of 1,000 bags of litter.

We have been involved in An Taisce’s Spring Clean initiative for three years and for the first time this year, in an effort to acknowledge the hard work and local effort and to encourage participation in the event, we at West Cork Development Partnership advertised a prize draw for any community group who registered with us.  At the outset, we were uncertain as to how much of a prize fund could be raised given the difficult economic climate. In the end, we were delighted to receive a total €2,300 from generous donators plus four reconditioned Dell laptops from WEEE Ireland.

In an attempt to spread the prize money effectively we decided to split the prize fund into five cash awards, one prize of €800, two prizes of  €500 and two prizes of €250.  As regards the laptops we decided to have one prize of two laptops and two prizes of one laptop.

We held the draw here in our offices on the 15th of June and are delighted to advise the results were as follows:

Cash prize raffle ………

  1. Kealkill Tidy Towns – €800
  2. Drinagh Community Association – €500
  3. Union Hall Development Association – €500
  4. Courcey’s Integrated Rural Development – €250
  5. Co-Action Bantry – €250

Laptop prize raffle…..

  1. Castlehaven National School – 2 Laptops
  2. Timoleague Foroige – 1 Laptop
  3. The Attic Youth Cafe Bantry – 1 Laptop

Unfortunately, we do not have something for everyone but we would like to wish all of the prize winners our warm congratulations.

We look forward to working with you all again next year.
