CareRing

Care Ring offers a service of daily phone calls to older people who are living alone or in isolated circumstances. This phone call service ensures everyone in the community has access to daily contact outside the home. It also supports clients to address important issues in their lives.

The “Relationship Building” and “Relationship Supporting” service is one of the first of its kind in Ireland and is tackling one of the most pervasive and invisible problems of modern life, “Loneliness”

The Project is currently covering the following areas:
Beara, Sheepshead and Mizen Peninsulas and Bantry, Bandon, Newcestown, Caheragh,Union Hall,Castletownsend areas.

We are currently seeking applicants from Drimoleague, Drinagh, Skibbereen, Baltimore and all existing areas. We are open to new clients from all areas.

The Care ring Team Is made up of eight to ten people from all different walks of life. Their hobbies and interests all differ however each caller is there for a nice friendly chat, and as a source of information regarding various grants and supports available to help assist or ensure independent living for members of Care Ring.

Key supports would consist of information on essential repair grants/housing adaptation grant for people with a disability grant schemes operated by Cork County Council.
Warmer Homes scheme operated by WCDP.

All of these schemes help to improve the quality of life for the members of Care Ring and contribute to independent living.

Care Ring offers a number of services for example the following services are included;

  • Offers a wide range of social outing & activities
  • Local Afternoon Tea Dances Held at regular intervals encourages people to come out to events and helps re-establish past acquaintances and friendships.
  • Provision of information on a range of scheme and services
  • Assistance with application forms
