Horse and Cloaked Rider Sculpture Unveiled in Innishannon

An exceptional bronze Horse and Cloaked Rider was unveiled at the entrance to Innishannon, on Saturday 9th, July. Historically, the ford at Innishannon was the first crossing point on the Bandon river for travellers seeking passage to West Cork.

West Cork Development Partnership are proud to be the principle funders of the project which impressively reflects the rich heritage of West Cork. The unveiling of the sculpture is the result of a number of years work on the part of Innishannon Tidy Towns who commissioned the piece.

The Horse and Cloaked Rider was created by local sculpture Don Cronin and harks back to a time when riders would cross the Bandon river at the Innishannon Ford into West Cork.
A large crowd gathered for the unveiling and all were impressed by the wonderful craftmanship. There was a general sense of pride at having such a magnificent artwork marking the gateway to West Cork.
