Call for Expressions of Interest for Flagship Community Capital Project

The West Cork Development Partnership provides a range of development supports to community and voluntary organisations throughout the West Cork and Lee Valley region. Under the current Rural Development Programme 2007 2013 (LEADER), one flagship community initiative can be considered for grant assistance of up to €500,000.

In planning for such a development and in considering the widest range of projects that can deliver benefits throughout the region, the West Cork Development Partnership now seeks Expressions of Interest from suitable local community organisations.

Eligible project activity, which should have broad appeal and be accessible to the widest possible range of users could include:

  • The development of community and recreational facilities
  • Environmental enhancements and upgrades
  • The development of civic and public amenities
  • Arts and cultural facilities

Scenario Planning Report

The Report from the Scenario Planning Workshops is now available for all communities in West Cork!  

The scenarios developed in the workshop and in this report are important to provide a vehicle to be used in the process of building a shared vision for the future of the region. These regional scenario planning workshops was one step in the process of the formation of such a vision and in identifying key actions and activities to shape the region’s future. This report serves as a record for the participants and will assist in communicating the scenarios as an important step to developing a shared vision for the region.

eWorking Report

On Monday May 31st, 2010, Batt O’Keeffe, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation launched a report on the development potential for e-working and remote working in the West Cork region. The report was commisioned by the West Cork Development Partnership and conducted by PA Consulting in order to review the region’s suitability to host and develop new flexible forms of employment enabled by the new technology applications and the local broadband infrastructure. The report examines the West Cork region’s suitability and capacity in terms of:

• The potential of e-working and telecommuting as well as the tasks and work types that can be enabled by technology.

• An analysis of the available broadband mapped by location and type.

• The productivity and financial benefits as well as work/life, environmental and wider socio-economic benefits.

• E-worker skillsets, roles, availability and qualifications.

• The development of an e-worker environment including recommendations for support and implementation

Launch of e-working report

The West Cork Development Partnership invites you to a launch of a report on the potential for E-Working/Remote Working in West Cork by Batt O’Keeffe, T.D.,  Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Innovation

Date: Monday, 31st May, 2010

Location: Castle Hotel, Macroom

Time: 2pm

The report, commissioned by the West Cork Development Partnership and

conducted by PA Consulting,  explores the opportunities for the continuing

development of e-working in the West Cork region. Its content explores:

  • Definitions  and suitability of e-working in a local context
  • Mapping of available broadband by type and location
  • Benefits, productivity gains and the creation of an E-working environment
  • E-worker skillsets and availability in West Cork
