Call for Expressions of Interest for Flagship Community Capital Project

Sep 8th, 2010Comments Off

The West Cork Development Partnership provides a range of development supports to community and voluntary organisations throughout the West Cork and Lee Valley region. Under the current Rural Development Programme 2007 2013 (LEADER), one flagship community initiative can be considered for grant assistance of up to €500,000.

In planning for such a development and in considering the widest range of projects that can deliver benefits throughout the region, the West Cork Development Partnership now seeks Expressions of Interest from suitable local community organisations.

Eligible project activity, which should have broad appeal and be accessible to the widest possible range of users could include:

  • The development of community and recreational facilities
  • Environmental enhancements and upgrades
  • The development of civic and public amenities
  • Arts and cultural facilities

For further information on eligibility criteria, please contact Ian Dempsey or Lisa Cashman at 023 8834035 or ian@wcdp.ie or lisac@wcdp.ie. Please click here to download the Expression of Interest Form.

Expression of Interest Forms must be submitted to Ian Dempsey, CEO, West Cork Development Partnership, West Cork Technology Park, Clonakilty, Co. Cork no later than October 29th, 2010.

The scenarios developed in the workshop and in this report are important to provide a vehicle to be used in the process of building a shared vision for the future of the region. These regional scenario planning workshops was one step in the process of the formation of such a vision and in identifying key actions and activities to shape the region’s future. This report serves as a record for the participants and will assist in communicating the scenarios as an important step to developing a shared vision for the region.

Spring Clean 2010

Jun 28th, 20101 Comment

We would like to take this opportunity to express a sincere thank you to all the community groups, voluntary organisations and schools who participating in the event.

Once again this year we were delighted with the response we received. An impressive 66 groups registered with us and our partners Cork County Council collecting in excess of 1,000 bags of litter.

We have been involved in An Taisce’s Spring Clean initiative for three years and for the first time this year, in an effort to acknowledge the hard work and local effort and to encourage participation in the event, we at West Cork Development Partnership advertised a prize draw for any community group who registered with us.  At the outset, we were uncertain as to how much of a prize fund could be raised given the difficult economic climate. In the end, we were delighted to receive a total €2,300 from generous donators plus four reconditioned Dell laptops from WEEE Ireland.

In an attempt to spread the prize money effectively we decided to split the prize fund into five cash awards, one prize of €800, two prizes of  €500 and two prizes of €250.  As regards the laptops we decided to have one prize of two laptops and two prizes of one laptop.

We held the draw here in our offices on the 15th of June and are delighted to advise the results were as follows:

Cash prize raffle ………

  1. Kealkill Tidy Towns – €800
  2. Drinagh Community Association – €500
  3. Union Hall Development Association – €500
  4. Courcey’s Integrated Rural Development – €250
  5. Co-Action Bantry – €250

Laptop prize raffle…..

  1. Castlehaven National School – 2 Laptops
  2. Timoleague Foroige – 1 Laptop
  3. The Attic Youth Cafe Bantry – 1 Laptop

Unfortunately, we do not have something for everyone but we would like to wish all of the prize winners our warm congratulations.

We look forward to working with you all again next year.
